As a proud first-generation Latina college graduate, Yajaira brings a deep commitment, personal insight, and over 19 years of expertise to her work as a consultant and college counselor at a private high school. Her journey in education began at the University of Rhode Island, where she earned dual degrees in Political Science and Spanish, along with a minor in Student Leadership Development. She went on to receive her Master’s in Organizational Management and Human Resource Development from Manhattanville College.
Yajaira’s professional background spans nearly two decades in higher education, with a strong focus on Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid. Her experience also includes impactful roles in residence life, academic advising, student employment, EOF (Educational Opportunity Fund) programs, and private college consulting. For the past nine years, she has served as a consultant for HESAA (Higher Education Student Assistance Authority), helping to demystify the college admissions and financial aid process for students and families across the state.
Beyond her extensive work in higher education, Yajaira is the founder of Fenix Consulting, LLC, a company dedicated to empowering students through college readiness and financial planning. She also serves as the College Admissions and Financial Aid Director for MAAC - Mindful Awareness Academy for Children, a community-based organization focused on education and equity.
Yajaira is passionate about expanding access to education and guiding students through the often-overwhelming college planning process. Her dedication is deeply rooted in her own lived experiences. As she often shares,
